How to play
Apollo is a spirit duelist with a fencer’s toolkit. Flawless Advance gives him three timed lunges, Riposte deflects an attack and counter-dashes onto the attacker, Disengaging Sigil blasts enemies as he leaps away, and Itani Lo Sahn is a long-range slash that freezes enemies before finishing them.
Laning phase (0–10 min)
- Trade with Flawless Advance. Practise the perfect-hit timing: it’s the difference between 25 and 65 base damage.
- Riposte when the enemy commits. If they swing or shoot at you, deflect, dash in and stun.
- Sigil to escape. It’s on a short 12-second cooldown and slows enemies chasing you.
Mid game (10–25 min)
- Pick off isolated targets. Lunge in, Riposte their response, then lunge again.
- Disengaging Sigil T2 resets your air jump and dash when it hits, which gives you huge mobility.
Late game and team fights (25+ min)
- Itani Lo Sahn finishes wounded enemies. It does 60% more damage to targets below half health (more with T3), and you’re invulnerable while it plays out.
- Use it as a dodge. Being invulnerable during the ultimate can save you from incoming burst.
Combos
- Duel: Flawless Advance (perfect hit) → Riposte their counterattack → stun → final lunge.
- Execute: wear an enemy down below half health → Itani Lo Sahn.
- Kite: Disengaging Sigil (slows) → shoot → Sigil recast (T3) to keep distance.
Matchups
- Good against: melee heroes and heroes who commit to big attacks (Riposte punishes them).
- Hard against: long-range snipers who never come close, and heavy crowd control.
Pro tips
- Your gun has no falloff within its 25 m range, but bullets are slow (127 m/s), so lead your shots.
- Riposte T3 gives 75% lifesteal against the target for 13 seconds, enough to win most duels.
Lore
Apollo is the prince of Ixia, sent to New York for his safety while his homeland is in political turmoil. He captains the fencing team at Blackmore Academy and waits for the day his father calls him home to take up the family's ancestral blade.
Frequently asked questions
How does Riposte work?
Brace for 0.8 seconds. If an attack hits you during that window, you deflect it, become invulnerable for 0.3 seconds, dash to the attacker (up to 35 metres away), stun them and lower their melee resist. Mistime it and it goes on cooldown for nothing.
What is a perfect hit on Flawless Advance?
Each lunge can be held to time the stab. Releasing in the perfect window deals the most damage (65 base, plus strong spirit scaling), and with T1 it also heals you when it hits a hero.
How do you counter Apollo?
Don't attack into Riposte; wait for it to be used. Stay out of range of his ultimate when you're below half health, and use crowd control on him after he's used his lunges.
