Item build
A starting build that works in most games. Swap pieces based on the enemy team; the notes explain what each stage is for.
Checked against 35,907 Haze matches from October 6–7, 2026 (all ranks). It keeps the items most Haze players buy and fills the other slots with the items that won most often. See the item tier list for how we measure that.

| Stage | Items |
|---|---|
| Laning (800-soul items)Rapid Rounds and Extra Spirit are on almost every Haze. Extra Health and Sprint Boots have the best results of her cheap items. | |
| Mid game core (1,600–3,200)The fire-rate core almost every Haze builds: Swift Striker, Active Reload, Burst Fire and Surge of Power. Bullet Resist Shredder has the best mid-game results. | |
| Late game (6,400)Ricochet is the usual finisher, but Silencer, Lucky Shot and Siphon Bullets all do better in our data when bought at the same point in the game. | |
| SituationalGlass Cannon when you're far ahead, Healing Tempo for sustain, Crippling Headshot against tanks and healers, Slowing Hex to stop targets escaping your ultimate. |

How to play
Haze is a gun-focused assassin and carry. Fixation makes every bullet hit harder than the last against the same target, so she melts single targets. In the late game, Bullet Dance lets her spray perfect-accuracy fire at a whole team at once.
Laning phase (0–10 min)
- Farm safely. Haze is fragile early. Focus on last hits, orbs and denies rather than trades.
- Fixation rewards focus. When you do trade, keep shooting the same target so the stacks build. Headshots add three stacks each.
- Sleep Dagger is your lane-saver. Sleep an enemy who’s chasing you, or set up an easy kill if your lane partner is nearby.
Mid game (10–25 min)
- Hunt isolated targets. Smoke Bomb lets you move unseen. Find an enemy farming alone, sleep them, then start shooting. Remember that damage wakes them up, so open your attack with your best shot.
- Use Smoke Bomb to farm. Invisible sprint speed gets you between jungle camps quickly.
- Don’t force fights before your core items. Haze gets much stronger once her fire-rate core (Swift Striker, Active Reload and Burst Fire) is bought.
Late game and team fights (25+ min)
- Wait for the right Bullet Dance. Look for moments when three or more enemies are close together, or after your team has landed a stun.
- Position on the side, not the front. Smoke Bomb in, appear from an angle, then ult.
- Watch for enemy CC. Stuns and silences interrupt Bullet Dance. If a key enemy still has their stun, bait it out first.
Combos
- Assassination: Smoke Bomb → walk behind the target → Sleep Dagger → reposition and shoot for headshots. Fixation stacks build while they wake up.
- Team wipe: Smoke Bomb into a flank → Bullet Dance on a grouped team → Smoke Bomb again (with T2 charges) to escape.
- Duel opener (T2 Sleep Dagger): Sleep Dagger gives 15 Fixation stacks at once, so a duel starts with your damage already ramped up.
Matchups
- Good against: squishy heroes who can’t escape, and teams that spread out.
- Hard against: heroes with stuns or silences that interrupt Bullet Dance, and tanks stacking bullet resist.
- Spirit damage is your weakness. Burst spirit heroes can delete Haze before Fixation builds up, so pick up Spirit Resilience if that’s what’s killing you.
Pro tips
- Headshots give three Fixation stacks instead of one. Aiming for the head speeds up your ramp-up massively.
- Smoke Bomb T3 dispels debuffs. Use it to escape slows and damage-over-time effects as well as to reposition.
- In lane, don’t use Sleep Dagger just to poke. Its cooldown is long early on, and it’s your only escape tool besides Smoke Bomb.
Lore
Haze is an agent of the OSIC's secretive Sandman Division, slipping into people's dreams to judge whether they're a threat. When someone is, she ends them with sleep-inducing daggers and precise gunfire.
Frequently asked questions
Is Haze good for beginners?
Haze is a medium-difficulty hero. Her kit is straightforward, but she's fragile and needs good aim and positioning. Play a few matches as a tankier hero first, then pick up Haze once you're comfortable with the map.
How does Fixation work?
Each bullet that hits a target adds one Fixation stack to that target, or three for a headshot. Each stack increases your bullet damage against that specific target. Stacks last 6 seconds (11 with the T2 upgrade), so keep shooting the same enemy.
How do you counter Haze?
Stuns, silences and sleeps interrupt Bullet Dance, so save one for when she ults. Bullet resist items like Bullet Resilience and Metal Skin cut her damage, and staying grouped stops her picking off isolated players.
