Item build
A starting build that works in most games. Swap pieces based on the enemy team; the notes explain what each stage is for.
Checked against 9,672 Mirage matches from October 6–7, 2026 (all ranks). It keeps the items most Mirage players buy and fills the other slots with the items that won most often. See the item tier list for how we measure that.

| Stage | Items |
|---|---|
| Laning (800-soul items)Nearly nine in ten Mirage players open with Mystic Regeneration for lane sustain. Extended Magazine is the best-performing early gun item on him. | |
| Mid game core (1,600–3,200)Mirage is built as a hybrid now: cooldown and spirit items that make Djinn's Mark and Fire Scarabs come round faster, plus Toxic Bullets for anti-heal. Superior Cooldown has the best results of his mid-game items. | |
| Late game (6,400)Most players finish Ricochet and Escalating Exposure, but both do worse in our data than other 6,400-soul items bought at the same time. Silencer and Siphon Bullets have the best results, so they're worth trying first. | |
| SituationalSpirit Lifesteal for long fights, Inhibitor against a fed carry or healers, Spirit Rend if your team deals spirit damage, Dispel Magic against slows and silences. |

How to play
Mirage is a hybrid gun carry with global map presence. Djinn’s Mark stacks on enemies as he shoots them, Fire Scarabs drain health and cut enemy damage, Dust Devil turns him into a whirlwind, and Traveler teleports him anywhere on the map.
Laning phase (0–10 min)
- Stack Djinn’s Mark. Keep shooting the enemy hero; marks build up and detonate for growing spirit damage.
- Fire Scarabs to win trades. Draining health and reducing their damage by 20% swings the trade in your favour.
Mid game (10–25 min)
- Use Traveler to join fights. Teleport to a lane where your team is fighting, or to defend an objective.
- Dust Devil to engage. It lifts and slows enemies, then gives you bullet evasion.
Late game and team fights (25+ min)
- Traveler T3 cuts the cooldown by 90 seconds. Teleport to almost every fight.
- Max out marks on the carry. With T3, max marks stun for 0.5 seconds.
Combos
- Duel: Fire Scarabs → shoot to stack marks → Dust Devil to slow → keep shooting.
- Global gank: Traveler next to a fight → (T1) +20% fire rate → Fire Scarabs → mark stacking.
- Escape: Dust Devil (evasion) → Traveler to safety (only if you won’t be hit).
Matchups
- Good against: gun duelists (Fire Scarabs cuts their damage), and slow heroes.
- Hard against: burst heroes who kill him before marks stack.
Pro tips
- Djinn’s Mark reveals targets for 6 seconds, which helps track enemies.
- Traveler from somewhere safe. Any damage during the 2-second wait cancels it.
Lore
Mirage is the bodyguard of Nashala Dion, a djinn ambassador. He's with her in New York on a diplomatic mission to negotiate the purchase of Wyoming as a sovereign nation for the djinn.
Frequently asked questions
How does Djinn's Mark work?
Mirage's shots apply a mark to the target, at most once every 2.75 seconds. Marks stack up to 4 (5 with T3). When they expire or are consumed, they deal spirit damage that doubles for each extra mark, and marked targets are revealed for 6 seconds. With T3, reaching max marks stuns for 0.5 seconds.
How does Traveler work?
Click a location on the minimap, wait 2 seconds, and Mirage teleports there. Damage during the wait interrupts it. With T3 its cooldown drops by 90 seconds, so he can teleport to nearly every fight.
How do you counter Mirage?
Damage him during Traveler's 2-second wait to interrupt it. Don't let marks stack up, and buy bullet resist against his gun.
