Item build

A starting build that works in most games. Swap pieces based on the enemy team; the notes explain what each stage is for.

Checked against 14,685 The Doorman matches from October 6–7, 2026 (all ranks). It keeps the items most The Doorman players buy and fills the other slots with the items that won most often. See the item tier list for how we measure that.

How to play

The Doorman is a map-control disruptor. Doorway connects two points on the map, Luggage Cart drags enemies and slams them into walls, Call Bell blinds and slows, and Hotel Guest sends an enemy away to the Baroness Hotel, taking them out of the fight.

Laning phase (0–10 min)

  • Call Bell for trades. Cutting the enemy’s weapon accuracy by 40% wins gunfights.
  • Your gun pierces. Bullets pass through the first target (at reduced damage), so line up troopers and the enemy hero.
  • Luggage Cart for kills. Drag the enemy hero into your lane partner.

Mid game (10–25 min)

  • Use Doorway for rotations. Place doors to bring your team from one lane to another quickly, or to escape.
  • Luggage Cart into walls. With T2 and T3, a wall impact deals extra damage and stuns.

Late game and team fights (25+ min)

  • Hotel Guest the enemy carry. Removing them for 6.5 seconds turns a 6v6 into a 6v5.
  • Check out stuns. With T2, a failed checkout stuns them when they return.
  • Doors for surprise attacks. Bring your whole team through a door into the enemy’s flank.

Combos

  1. Wall slam: Luggage Cart → drag the target into a wall (stun with T3) → Call Bell → shoot.
  2. Pick: Hotel Guest the carry → your team fights 6v5 → Luggage Cart the next target.
  3. Flank: Doorway behind the enemy → team walks through → Call Bell to start the fight.

Matchups

  • Good against: heroes who depend on positioning (snipers, backliners) and teams that fight near walls.
  • Hard against: heroes with high burst, since he isn’t very tanky, and long-range poke.

Pro tips

  • Projectiles go through Doorway too: fire abilities and bullets through it.
  • Hotel Guest T3 makes you Unstoppable while the guest is away.

Lore

The Doorman calls himself a fledgling god. He meant only to pass through our world, but he found humans so fascinating that he stayed, taking a job as the doorman of Manhattan's Baroness Hotel so he could watch them up close.

Frequently asked questions

How does Doorway work?

The Doorman places two connected doors up to 65 metres apart. For 15 seconds, anyone who walks into one door (and any projectile fired into it) comes out of the other. Both teams can use it, so place doors carefully.

What is Hotel Guest?

The Doorman's ultimate. After a 1-second channel, he sends a nearby enemy to the Baroness Hotel for 6.5 seconds, taking them out of the fight. They take damage during the stay and more if they fail to check out, plus a stun with T2.

How do you counter the Doorman?

Stay away from walls when his Luggage Cart is up, and keep distance so he can't reach you with Hotel Guest. Watch for doors, since they can bring his whole team in from unexpected angles.
