The best farmers in Deadlock don’t have a secret route. They just waste less time: no idle walking, no waves left to die alone, no camps passed by. This guide covers the loop, the timers and the habits.
The farming loop
Every efficient farmer runs the same cycle:
- Clear your lane wave. Secure every orb and finish troopers with melee where you can.
- Push the wave forward if it’s safe, so the next wave meets yours further up the lane.
- Farm the jungle while the waves walk. Clear the camps and crates nearest your lane.
- Be back for the next wave. Waves arrive every 30 seconds until 20:00.
- Shop whenever you pass a shop with spare souls.
Timers to remember
| What | First spawn | Respawn |
|---|---|---|
| Trooper waves | 0:00 | Every 30 s (25 s after 20:00, 20 s after 35:00) |
| Small camps | 2:00 | 1:25 |
| Crates and golden statues | 3:00 | 3:00 after breaking |
| Medium camps | 5:00 | 4:50 |
| Large camps | 8:00 | 5:35 |
| Sinner’s Sacrifice | 8:00 | 5:00 (solo machines) |
| Soul Urn | 10:00 | Every 5:00 |
| Unstable Rift | ~11:00 (±1 min) | ~7:00 (±1 min) |
| Mid Boss | — | 7 min after its first kill, then 6, then 5 |
A minute-by-minute plan
Pure lane (0:00–2:00)
Last hits, orbs and denies. Nothing else spawns yet.
Lane + small camps (2:00–5:00)
Small camps appear at 2:00 and respawn quickly (1:25). If there’s one close to your lane, clear it between waves. Crates appear at 3:00; break the ones on your way.
Medium camps join (5:00–8:00)
Medium camps spawn at 5:00. Your lane is still your main income, but a quick medium camp between waves adds up.
The jungle opens up (8:00–10:00)
Large camps and Sinner’s Sacrifice arrive at 8:00. This is when jungle income gets serious, and when ambushes in the jungle start.
Objectives take priority (10:00 onward)
The Urn (10:00) and the Rift (~11:00) begin, and Guardians lose their resistances at 12:00. From now on, plan your farming around objectives: farm near where your team is going to be.
Habits of high-income players
- Never let a wave die without you. If your lane is empty, those souls are lost forever.
- Farm towards objectives. Pick the camps on your path to the next fight, not on the far side of the map.
- Use melee on troopers and crates. Melee kills skip the orb, and heavy melee is the only way to open tough crates.
- Don’t overstay in dangerous spots. The Bell Tower rings for the whole map, and Sunken Plaza drains your stamina.
- Watch your haunted bank. After a big jungle run, shop before you fight. See haunted souls.
- Use economy items carefully. Golden Goose Egg and Trophy Collector give extra income over time, but only pay off if you buy them early.
Farming by role
- Carries: farm the most, but join fights at objectives. A carry with 10,000 souls who never shows up to fights is useless.
- Supports and initiators: take less farm, but don’t take none. Clear the camps near objectives while you wait for your team.
- Heroes that clear camps quickly (area damage, turrets, summons) should take more of the jungle, leaving lane farm to heroes who need it.
That’s the end of the Soul Economy section. Next up: the map.
Frequently asked questions
How do I farm faster in Deadlock?
Never let a trooper wave die without you, clear the camps and crates closest to your lane between waves, finish troopers with melee to skip orbs, and shop on your way back. The biggest gains come from wasting less time, not from any secret route.
Should I farm or fight in Deadlock?
Farm when there's nothing to fight over. Fight, or group up, when the Mid Boss, Unstable Rift, Soul Urn or an objective is in play. Losing a fight 5 against 6 costs far more than one camp is worth.
