Deadlock Soul Urn Guide: Spawn Times, Delivery and Rewards

How the Soul Urn works in Deadlock, including when and where it spawns, the carrier's buffs, the 45-second delivery window, what makes the carrier drop it, and how to run or steal it.

The Soul Urn is a recurring mini-objective: grab it, carry it across the map, and your team gets a large soul payout plus permanent stat buffs. It’s one of the best ways to earn souls in the mid game, and one of the best ways for a team that’s behind to catch up.

Spawn schedule

Details
First spawn10:00
RespawnEvery 5 minutes
LaneAlternates between Yellow (York) and Green (Greenwich), starting with Yellow
PickupMelee it after it finishes descending (about 12.5 s)
If nobody grabs itAfter 3 minutes, it starts walking to the drop-off point by itself

Carrying the Urn

The carrier gets:

  • +2 m/s move speed (up to a 15 m/s cap)
  • +1 stamina, +25% stamina regen and +10% dash distance
  • 100% slow resistance
  • If your team is behind: extra bullet, spirit and debuff resist, growing to 40% at 30 minutes

The carrier can’t use ziplines or teleporters, so you have to run it on foot.

Delivery

  • The drop-off point is on the opposite side of the map.
  • Deliver within 45 seconds of pickup for full value. After that, the Urn loses value over another 45 seconds until it’s worth nothing.

Rewards

  • Souls: 250 + 70 per minute, based on the game time when it spawned. At the 15-minute spawn, that’s 1,300 souls.
  • The courier gets the souls at first, but they drop as orbs that teammates (and enemies!) can secure or deny.
  • The courier also gets 4 random permanent buffs, which are stronger later in the game.
  • The comeback system gives teams that are behind bigger Urn rewards.

What makes the carrier drop it

  • Any melee hit
  • Melee-damage abilities
  • Stuns
  • Hits from enemy NPCs such as troopers and Guardians
  • Certain abilities: Mirage’s Traveler, Rem’s Tag Along, Sinclair’s Spectral Assistant and Viscous’s Goo Ball

How to run the Urn

  1. Pick a fast, tanky carrier. Slow resistance and bonus speed make most heroes decent carriers, but a tank survives the hits.
  2. Escort it. Two or three teammates should travel with the carrier to block melee and stuns.
  3. Avoid enemy troopers and Guardians. Their hits make you drop it.
  4. Watch the clock. After 45 seconds, every second costs value.
  5. Secure the orbs on delivery. The enemy can deny them.

How to stop it

  1. Melee the carrier. One melee hit is enough to make them drop it, and their slow resistance doesn’t protect against that.
  2. Save a stun. Stuns force a drop too.
  3. Fight near your troopers. NPC hits also count.
  4. Stand on the drop-off point. If the delivery is contested, deny the orbs when they drop.

Is the Urn worth it?

Usually, yes. A mid-game Urn is worth well over 1,000 souls plus four permanent buffs. But don’t throw away a fight or a Walker for it. If the enemy is taking a major objective at the same time, the objective is usually worth more.
