Deadlock is played on a single map: a supernatural version of New York nicknamed the Cursed Apple. The City Never Sleeps update (September 29, 2026) reworked it heavily, with new lane landmarks, new jungle camps and new areas like the Bell Tower and Sunken Plaza.
The big picture
- Two bases sit at opposite ends of the map.
- Three lanes connect them, each with a zipline running its full length: York on the left, Broadway down the middle and Greenwich on the right (seen with one base at the top and the other at the bottom).
- Four districts fill the space between the lanes with jungle camps, shortcuts and soul machines.
- The sewers under the middle of the map hold the Mid Boss.

The three lanes
| Lane | Colour | Route | Character |
|---|---|---|---|
| York | Yellow | Stock Exchange → Seaport → Fairfax Factories | Side lane with an industrial look; the first Soul Urn spawns here |
| Broadway | Blue | Uptown → Times Square → Downtown | Middle lane, the shortest path between bases, above the Mid Boss |
| Greenwich | Green | Umbria University → Central Park → the Brownstones | Overgrown side lane |
Each lane has the same chain of defences: a Guardian, then a Walker, then two Base Guardians at the base entrance. See objectives.
The four districts
Between the lanes are four districts: Theater, Chinatown, Haunted Lot and Plaza. They contain:
- Jungle camps (haunts) in three tiers
- Sinner’s Sacrifice machines, including the Bell Tower in Chinatown, whose bell rings across the whole map when someone hits it
- Sunken Plaza, a foggy area in Plaza that drains your stamina but holds better rewards
- Crates, tough crates and golden statues
- Steam vents that hide you from enemies
See jungle camps and timers for the details.
The bases
| Team | Base | Look |
|---|---|---|
| The Hidden King (Amber) | The Hidden King’s Court | A factory with huge speakers; a shadowy antlered figure |
| The Archmother / Guided Hand (Sapphire) | The Guided Hand | A neoclassical museum with a broken Statue of Liberty mask |
Each base has:
- A spawn room that heals you very quickly and has a shop
- A Soul Well that trickles souls to players at home
- Two Shrines and the Patron, the final objective
Objectives at a glance
| Objective | Per team | Worth | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|

| Walker | 3 | 3,675 souls | Unlocks an extra item slot; loses resistance by 18:00 |
| Base Guardians | 6 (two per lane) | 1,000 souls | Destroying a pair turns that lane’s zipline into an express line |
| Shrines | 2 | 2,000 souls | Vulnerable once a pair of Base Guardians falls |
| Patron | 1 | Wins the game | Vulnerable once both Shrines fall; has two phases |
Neutral objectives
| Objective | Where | When |
|---|---|---|
| Mid Boss | Sewers under Broadway | From the start; respawns 7, 6, then 5 min after each kill |
| Soul Urn | York first, then alternating with Greenwich | 10:00, then every 5 min |
| Unstable Rift | A side-lane bridge | ~11:00, then ~every 7 min |
| Power-ups | Bridges near the Urn spawn and drop-off points | 5:00, then every 5 min |
Shops
| Shop | Where | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Base shop | Your spawn room | Your team |
| Side shops | In every lane, next to the Guardian | Your team, but it closes for good when that lane’s Guardian dies |
| Secret shops (2) | Underground, between Broadway and the side lanes | Both teams |
Getting around
