The Unstable Rift is a king-of-the-hill objective: stand in the zone, hold it, and your team gets a large soul payout plus a wave of powerful Rift Troopers. It forces fights in the side lanes throughout the mid and late game.
Spawn timing and location
| Details | |
|---|---|
| First spawn | About 11:00 (anywhere from 10:00 to 12:00) |
| Respawn | About every 7 minutes (±1 minute) |
| Location | A random bridge in one of the side lanes (York or Greenwich) |
| Warning | A visual effect appears before it spawns |
How capturing works
- The capture zone has a 20 m radius.
- It takes 12 seconds to capture under normal conditions.
- Both teams make progress at the same time while both are inside, but only one team can claim it once the other leaves. In practice, you have to clear the zone.
- Everyone in the zone is revealed on the minimap.
Rewards
Souls
1,482 souls + 222 per minute (the scaling starts at 13:00), split evenly across the whole team. That’s one of the largest payouts in the game.
Rift Troopers
The winning team gets Rift Troopers, spawning every 0.5 seconds:
- On the first Rift, they have +100% health and damage, plus resistances.
- Teams that are behind get extra Rift Troopers (up to 14 in total).
Rift Troopers are perfect for pushing objectives, since they keep backdoor protection off Walkers, Base Guardians and Shrines.
Comeback resistance
A team that’s behind gets resistance while contesting the Rift. Since the September 16, 2026 patch it grows over the game: 10% + 1% per minute, up to 40% at 30 minutes.
Strategy
- Be there early. Group up as the warning effect appears. The team that arrives first controls the zone.
- Fight in and around the zone. You can’t capture while enemies stand in it, so area damage and crowd control are very valuable.
- Don’t send one player. Everyone in the zone is revealed on the minimap. A lone capper is an easy kill.
- Use the troopers. Right after capturing, push the nearest objective with your Rift Troopers.
- If you’re behind, contest it. The comeback resistance makes Rift fights your best chance to turn the game.
- Know when to give it up. If you’re outnumbered, take an objective elsewhere instead of feeding kills at the Rift.
