Deadlock Sandbox Guide: Map, Settings and Console Commands

Everything in Deadlock's Sandbox practice mode. How to open it, what's on the map, every setting in the panel with its console command, plus the Hideout Atrium and Explore NYC.

The Sandbox is Deadlock’s practice map. It has everything you need to learn a hero or a mechanic without a match going on around you, plus a settings panel that can level you up, switch off cooldowns and slow time down.

How to get there

  • Play terminal in your Hideout, then Sandbox.
  • Or walk through the teleporter in the Atrium, the practice room off your Hideout’s main hall.
  • The teleporter inside the Sandbox takes you back to the Atrium.

What’s on the map

AreaWhat’s therePractise
SpawnA Curiosity Shop, and a healing zone around it. You can buy items anywhere on this map.Testing builds
The garden (left)An ally and an enemy Guardian, with troopers spawning behind each one and fighting. Past it, an area with an enemy Walker.Last hits, soul orbs, pushing objectives
The range (right)Ally and enemy test dummies next to a shooting range, and a dummy that runs back and forth in front of itAim and tracking
Traversal propsA Cosmic Veil, a rope, a jump pad, two power-ups, a Rejuvenator and a pair of teleportersMovement and objectives
The gymA dummy that throws melee attacks at youParry timing
The storage roomA jungle camp with small, medium and large monstersClearing camps

The City Never Sleeps update (September 29, 2026) added the new objectives to the Sandbox map, and crates and jungle camps now first appear 5 seconds after you load in instead of 30.

The settings panel

Every setting has a button in the panel. The console command is listed too, for players who prefer typing it.

Hero tools

These also work on a bot you’re mimicking or puppeting.

Game rules

SettingWhat it doesConsole command
No DeathHeroes can’t die (troopers and camps still can)
No ReloadInfinite ammo
No CooldownCooldowns drop to 1 second (not quite instant)
Fast StaminaStamina recharges much faster
Slow down / Normal / Speed upChange the game speedhost_timescale_dec / host_timescale 1.0 / host_timescale_inc

Slow motion is underrated. Slowing the game down is the easiest way to see exactly when a timing window opens, like the dash jump window or a hidden melee. Always set the speed back to normal before you practise for real.

Hero control

SettingWhat it doesConsole command
Spawn a heroChoose a hero and friendly or enemy; it appears where your crosshair points
Take ControlTake control of a bot herocitadel_assume_pawn_control
Remove BotsRemove every bot hero, dummies includedbot_kick_all
Make MimicThe bot copies everything you dobot_mimic_target
Make PuppetYou control the botbot_puppet_target
Clear FollowEnd mimic and puppet modebot_mimic 0; bot_puppet 0

Make Mimic is a neat trick: a bot copying you lets you watch your own movement and dodging from the enemy’s point of view.

Known bug

If you go back to the Hideout from the menu while you’re puppeting a bot, you can’t move your hero there. Use Clear Follow (bot_puppet 0) or restart the game.

The Atrium

The Atrium is a smaller practice room inside your Hideout, through the doorway to the left of the main hall. There’s no loading screen, which makes it ideal for a two-minute warm-up before you queue.

  • Static friendly and enemy bots to shoot and test abilities on.
  • A ball, a rope, a soul well and a jump pad.
  • A machine that toggles fast cooldowns and infinite stamina.
  • A crystal that lets party members swap teams, for practising with friends.
  • The teleporter to the full Sandbox.

Explore NYC

Explore NYC, also on the Play terminal, puts you on the real match map on your own, with the same settings panel as the Sandbox. Crates and jungle camps first appear after 5 seconds. Use it to learn routes and shortcuts, practise corner boosts and zipline tech on the buildings you’ll actually fight around, and time your farming route.

What to practise

Not sure where to start? Our practice drills turn the Sandbox, the Atrium and Explore NYC into a 20-minute daily routine covering movement, aim, last hits and parry.

Frequently asked questions

How do you open the Sandbox in Deadlock?

Choose Sandbox on the Play terminal in your Hideout, or walk through the teleporter in the Atrium. The teleporter inside the Sandbox takes you back to the Atrium.

How do you get max level in the Deadlock Sandbox?

Use Max Level in the Sandbox settings panel, or the console command givelevelupgold 35. All Perks (giveallupgrades) then unlocks every ability upgrade.

How do you spawn bots in the Deadlock Sandbox?

In the Hero Control section of the settings panel, choose a hero and whether it's friendly or an enemy. It spawns where your crosshair is pointing. Remove Bots (bot_kick_all) clears them all, dummies included.

Can you practise parry in the Sandbox?

Yes. The gym has a dummy that throws melee attacks at you, so you can practise parrying on your own.
