The current patch is October 14, 2026, the latest in the City Never Sleeps update cycle, and it’s a balance patch: Deadman Danny buffed, Baba nerfed. Here’s everything since City Never Sleeps launched, newest first, with only what matters for how you play.
Each update also has its own article with every change in News. For the bigger picture, see the full patch history. For what’s strong right now, see the current meta.
October 14: Deadman Danny buffed, Baba nerfed
- Deadman Danny got buffs almost everywhere a day after launch: base health 680 → 730, regen 2.5 → 3.25, gun damage 12 → 15 (charged 44 → 48), Strix Salvo cooldown 30 → 25 s with more damage, a stronger Chimera Mk1, and Close the Deal now hits targets under half health for +75% (was +50%).
- Baba was nerfed: −7% base bullet resist, lower spirit resist scaling, Threadsap 26 → 28 s (and its steal ends when she dies), Granny Long Legs 30 → 32 s with much less airborne melee mobility, and a smaller, slower Baba’s Brew barrier.
- Radiant Regeneration’s spirit scaling went from 0.04 to 0.035.
- Every number is in the full patch article.
October 13: Deadman Danny arrives
- Deadman Danny is out. He’s a jetpack-flying weapons salesman who marks enemies with missiles, dives in when his jetpack overheats, shreds bullet resist with a fuel spray and carries one enemy into the sky with his ultimate. His own damage can never kill him. Read our early guide before you try him.
- The diner in Broadway (the blue middle lane) has a new interior (not in Valve’s notes).
- No balance changes.
October 9: Solomon arrives
- Solomon is out. He’s a chess master who zones with bishops, shields allies by turning them into knights, roots with rooks and stuns whole teams with his queen. Read our early guide before you try him.
- New ropes, bridges and hallways in some areas of the map. Valve didn’t list where, so expect a few new routes between familiar spots. See the map overview.
- Viscous got a voice-over pass, mostly remastered lines with some new ones.
- No balance changes.
October 6: Baba arrives, ranked season extended
- Baba is out. She drains enemies’ spirit to power herself up, and fights from a bench she can run, jump and kick with. Read our early guide before you try her.
- Ranked Season 1 now ends on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at 2:00pm PT, instead of October 7. Season 2 starts straight after. See how ranked works.
- No balance changes.
October 5: Rat King and Sinclair nerfs
The only balance patch since City Never Sleeps. It also fixed a bug that made troopers walk too slowly in lane, which had been slowing every wave down.
Rat King
Rat King launched very strong, and his ultimate took the biggest hit:
| Ability | Change |
|---|---|
| Rule, Ratannia! (ultimate) | Cooldown 130 → 160 s. Damage reduction 20% → 15%. Radius 24 → 20 m. Charge 12 → 10 s. Bonus move speed no longer scales with spirit. Falls faster while charging. |
| Rule, Ratannia! upgrades | T1 now gives +2 m/s move speed (was +1) but no longer cuts the cooldown by 20 s. T2 no longer adds 8 s of charge, and its flag lasts +5 s (was +8). T3 damage reduction +10% (was +15%). |
| Scrap Grenade | Damage 65 → 70 (T2 bonus also 65 → 70). Bounce targeting fixed. |
| Rat Swarm | Cooldown 28 → 24 s. |
In total, a fully upgraded ultimate went from a 110 to a 160 second cooldown, and from 35% to 25% damage reduction. See the Rat King guide.
Sinclair
| Change | Before → after |
|---|---|
| Base health regen | 2 → 1 |
| Gun falloff range | 25–61 m → 20–60 m (Spectral Assistant too) |
| Base bullet damage | 17.76 → 16.5 |
| Vexing Bolt | Now deals half damage to objectives |
| Rabbit Hex | Radius 6.5 → 6 m; T3 bonus +3 → +2 m |
| Audience Participation (ultimate) | Copied ultimates last 12 → 9 s; copied cooldown 40% → 60% |
See the Sinclair guide.
October 4: Corrupted items leave Street Brawl
An unannounced change removed the Corrupted item that City Never Sleeps had added after the round 5 draft in Street Brawl.
October 2: Rat King arrives, the Broker leaves
- Rat King, the first City Never Sleeps hero, is out: a grenade, a rat swarm that attacks nearby enemies, a damage-reducing outfit and an ultimate banner that inspires allies.
- The Broker was quietly removed from Standard and Ranked, three days after it arrived. It may come back later in a different form. More on what it did in the patch history.
September 30: health bars and settings
A quality-of-life patch:
- New options to hide player names above health bars or show hero names instead. Names now fade out between 25 and 35 meters.
- New colour options: an Enemy Damaged colour (yellow by default) and an enemy zipline colour. Trooper health bars now follow your custom enemy colour.
- You can now rebind down dash separately.
- The minimap pings when the bell rings.
- Quieter death notifications and respawn music.
September 29: City Never Sleeps
The big one. The headline changes:
- Six new heroes, released one at a time on Tuesdays and Fridays: Rat King, Baba, Nurse Harrow, Solomon, Deadman Danny and Violet. See City Never Sleeps heroes.
- Map rework with new areas, and Steam Vents that make you invisible and heal you while you stand on them. See the map overview.
- Jungle camps rebuilt as Haunts, with many new types. See jungle camps.
- Tough crates that need a heavy melee, and hidden healing snacks around the map.
- Golden Statues renamed Buff Containers. Sinner’s Sacrifice now gives the same four bonuses as Buff Containers (spirit resist, ability range, bullet resist and move speed), at variable timings.
- Hero voting moved to the pre-game lobby. The winning team’s votes count double, and so does your first win of the day.
- Parrying objectives no longer resets your parry cooldown.
- A refreshed HUD and shop, and an inset HUD option for 21:9 screens.
- Ability point refunds moved to right-click on the ability icon.
