Valve’s minor update on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 went after the two newest heroes from opposite directions. Deadman Danny launched the day before as one of the weakest heroes in the game, so he got buffs to almost everything. Baba, one of the strongest since her October 6 release, was brought down. There were no new heroes and no map changes.
Did it work?
Yes. In public match data (via deadlock-api.com), comparing the day before the patch with October 15 onwards:
| Hero | Before the patch | Since the patch |
|---|---|---|
| Deadman Danny | 37.4% wins (63,610 games) | 44.2% wins (71,521 games) |
| Baba | 58.2% wins (29,803 games) | 53.3% wins (26,083 games) |
Danny is still below average, but no longer a throw pick; Baba is still strong, just not dominant. Our hero tier list switches to post-patch games at its next refresh.
Deadman Danny buffs
| Change | Before → after |
|---|---|
| Base health | 680 → 730 |
| Health regen | 2.5 → 3.25 |
| Gun damage per bullet | Uncharged 12 → 15, charged 44 → 48 |
| Rocket Jumping self-damage | 6.5% of max health → 5%, now spirit damage |
| Chimera Mk1 | Weapon scaling 1.15 → 1.4; heal-on-hit spirit scaling 1 → 2; cooldown scaling per boon −0.25 → −0.45; air slow 15% weaker; self-damage 12% → 10% of max health (not in Valve’s notes) |
| Strix Salvo | Cooldown 30 → 25 s; spirit scaling 0.9 → 1.1; T2 now +30 damage and +45 mark damage (was +20 / +35); T3 spirit scaling 0.2 → 0.35 |
| Close the Deal (ultimate) | Bonus damage to targets under half health +50% → +75%; the first ability point now gives +90 (was +50) |
He’s tougher in lane, his gun trades better, and his missile poke comes back faster. Our Deadman Danny guide has the new numbers; its build still holds, but expect his win rate to climb.
Baba nerfs
| Change | Before → after |
|---|---|
| Base bullet resist | −7% (new penalty) |
| Spirit resist scaling | 0.12 → 0.1 |
| Threadsap | Cooldown 26 → 28 s; the spirit reduction on enemies now ends when Baba dies |
| Granny Long Legs | Cooldown 30 → 32 s; repeated light melees in the air carry her forward less each time; the light melee launch is lower and looking up no longer adds height; heavy-melee slams no longer pick up speed on slopes |
| Baba’s Brew (now a T2 ability) | Barrier 100 → 90; barrier spirit scaling 1.2 → 0.7; cooldown 25 → 27 s |
The biggest loss is mobility: the chained airborne melees that let Baba cross fights and escape are much shorter now. See the Baba guide.
Items and Street Brawl
- Radiant Regeneration: spirit scaling 0.04 → 0.035.
- In Street Brawl, Baba’s Threadsap lasts 35% less time.
