Valve released Rat King on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 2pm PT, the first of the six City Never Sleeps heroes. He’s the cryptic ruler of the city’s rat warrens, with a plan to turn Long Island into a rat nation.
Rat King at a glance
- Scrap Grenade bounces through the streets before it goes off.
- Rat Swarm sends rats after nearby enemies and shreds their bullet resist.
- Royal Pestments cuts the damage he takes.
- Rule, Ratannia!, his ultimate, plants a banner that inspires his allies in a fight.
He launched very strong and was nerfed three days later, on October 5. Our Rat King guide covers his kit with the current numbers.
The Broker is gone
City Never Sleeps had added the Broker, a temporary merchant who appeared around the 30-minute mark and traded high-tier items for powerful Corrupted versions with random drawbacks. Without any announcement, this update removed him from Standard and Ranked matches. Two days later, the October 4 hotfix took Corrupted items out of Street Brawl too.
