Valve released Deadman Danny on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 2pm PT. He won the fourth round of the City Never Sleeps hero vote, after Rat King, Baba and Solomon. He’s a salesman for the arms maker Fairfax Industries who treats every fight as a product demonstration, and most of his kit hurts him as much as it hurts the enemy.
Deadman Danny at a glance
- Strix Salvo lays a line of missiles in the ground that explode when enemies come near and mark them. A charged shot into a marked enemy deals bonus damage and slows.
- Chimera Mk1 is his jetpack. Hold jump to fly; when it overheats he dives and explodes on landing, launching enemies. If the dive hits no hero, he stuns himself.
- Jettison Fuel sprays burning fuel that shreds bullet resist, then knocks Danny back with a blast. Hitting with it cools the jetpack.
- Close the Deal, his ultimate, grabs an enemy, flies high and slams down with them, hitting harder against anyone under half health.
His gun charges up: hold fire for a slow, two-bullet explosive shot. His innate means his own damage can never kill him, which is what makes the self-damage on his dives, charged shots and ultimate worth risking.
He’s had a rough start: about 36% wins in his first 30,000 matches, normal for a hero this hard to learn but the lowest opening of the batch so far. Our early Deadman Danny guide has his full kit with every upgrade, a skill order and a starting build from those matches.
Everything else in the update
- The diner in Broadway, the blue middle lane, has a new interior. Valve didn’t list this in the notes. See the map overview.
- No balance changes. The last balance patch is still October 5.
